Coding Symbols Legend

This page describes the meaning of short encoding names that appear beside links on other pages of the South Slavic literature library. For more information on encoding standards and browsers, please visit:
UTF-8
Denotes HTML-texts encoded according to the Unicode standard, particularly in encoding form UTF-8.
UNI
Denotes HTML-texts encoded according to the Unicode standard, particularly in encoding form UTF-16.
8859-2
Denotes HTML-texts encoded according to the ISO-8859-2 coding standard.
CP-1250
Denotes HTML-texts encoded according to the Microsoft Coding Page 1250 and therefore readable with certan problems under non-Microsoft operating systems.
qwyx
Denotes HTML-texts encoded in ASCII but using characters [q,w,y,x] instead of diacritics. See character encoding standards link above for more information.
ASCII
Denotes HTML-texts encoded according to the ASCII (ISO-8859-1) standard and therefore readable with all browsers.
