For guest book: Ovo je zaista lijepo. Sto vise reci? Mozda samo; hvala i doci cu opet.

Dragi Borut,

your site - Telphone directory on Balcan: Please note that Slovenia is not a Balcan country. I could say the same for Croatia.

For guest book: I have just spent a very pleasant hour visiting your site. Since I have been corresponding via email with two Yugoslavians during these times of strained relations between our two countries, I have become most interested in the Slavic culture and I am sure that your site will prove to be an invaluable learning tool for me.
I am a poet so my primary interest is in Yugoslavian poetry, particularly women poets. I was delighted to find a poem by Desanka Maksimovic' on you site and in English translation! Unfortunately, at this time I cannot read Yugoslavian but I am trying to rectify this by studying a Serbo-Croat (teach oneself) language course. Your site, will undoubtedly also help me in this endeavor.
Let us hope that tensions will soon ease between our countries and a healing process can begin. We have all been losers in this terrible tragedy. Please know that there are many of us in the US who have a great admiration and respect for the Yugoslavian culture and we wish only the best for you and your people.
A prijateljica from Wisconsin, USA

Pozdravljeni in hvala lepa Katja Sturm-Schnabl

regarding cafe balkan: Mr. Maricic, I am disappointed that you have under the umbrella of creating a website for "cosmopolitan Yugo-nostagists", have chosen to editorialize the NATO bombing of Serbia. Your views of the situation are not only not Yugo-nostagic or cosmopolitan, in fact they are at the level of an uneducated villager influenced by an overzealous priest. By citing Milosevic's propaganda you insult my intelligence and those who have the unfortune of stumbling across your website. SHAME ON YOU! If you want to have a pro-Serbian page FINE; but do not do it under false pretence. WE CAN SEE RIGHT THROUGH IT. I will not visit your site in the future. Take this from a REAL cosmopolitan.

For guest book: Cestitam.
1999-03-29, Tom Gallagher
For guest book: Cafe Balkan provides what I think is the authentic voice of the Balkans - ironic, refined, and humanistic. I hope these qualities will help shape the world's perception of a profoundly misunderstood corner of Europe if these days of political madness and human suffering are ever allowed to pass.

For guest book: Excellent site. Hi Borut
I don't usually sign guest books, but I thought I'd let you know that I think your site is one of the most well designed sites I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of sites). In addition, although I've never had any particular interest in South Slavic literature, the content is interesting and excellently presented.
It's good to see such high standard sites on the internet. Keep up the good work. Regards
Andrew
PS I've added your site to the following section of the Open Directory Project: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Globalization/Language_Specific/

No to bombs: I visited the Cafe Balkan site, and all I can say is that I absolutely agree with your standpoint regarding the terrible NATO bombings of Yugoslavia.
I'm working for a small independent Swedish newspaper. I'm looking for e-mail contact with ordinary people in Yugoslavia. We would like to let them express their views and feelings regarding the NATO bombings. If you could help me to find such contacts, I would be most grateful. For instance, is there a Yugoslav chat, where one might be able to find such contacts?
Best wishes from Sweden

Regarding S.Slavic Literature: Dear Mr.B. your Balkan Cafe je jako prijatno and there's also a lot to find in your own private library but of course I didn't found what I was looking for
that's not exactly your fault because I'm pretty new her in Cyberspace which I try to use now as cheap kind of encyclopedia
As you know there isn't very much to find in my "civilised" West about South Slavic literature only one or two books from Andric or Krleza but not a thing about historal backgrounds or other interesting facts (but it also could be that I'm not looking right or that I'm a bit impatient)
Actually I was looking for Milorad Petrovic I do have a few poems from him but I really don't know who he was and what he wrote and when and where he lived
according to his style and language he must be an 19th century Serbian poet (is my humble opinion) During my long long journey through the Internet I met a lot of people called Petrovic of course I met Njegos and Veljko and Zeljko but Milorad seems to be unknown
Yeah, what to do now??? If you know something you can drop me a line or you can refer me to some other interesting site or you can publish this e-mail and my @dress in your guestbook so other people can mail me
Thanks anyway i sve najbolje
